How to add Item (not ItemStack) to inventory.

Hello. I want to add a item to the inventory, but all I can find is:

par3EntityPlayer.inventory.addItemStackToInventory();

This does not work with normal items. I am not against changing the Item to a ItemStack, but I don't know how to do that, and when I change it from

public static Item

to

public static ItemStack

I get an error on

	emptyShell = new BaseItem(580).setUnlocalizedName("mcenrichment:shell").setCreativeTab(tabMCEnrichment);
LanguageRegistry.addName(emptyShell, "Empty Shell");

.

Please Help!

par3EntityPlayer.inventory.addItemStackToInventory(new ItemStack(mod_whatever.emptyShell,1));

He said not item stacks. :P

To original poster:

What you're trying to do is not doable.  Items are single-instance objects merely referenced for behavior by other object types (such as ItemStack).

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

He doesn't understand how items work. I was trying to show him.
