Hi, I don't speak English very well!
How to check oak boards?
I have this code, but it skips all kinds of planks. |
I just need to check the oak planks.                  \ /

if (!world.isRemote && world.getBlockState(blockPos).getBlock() == Blocks.PLANKS) {
				world.setBlockState(blockPos, NTCBlocks.NTC_LIGHTWOOD.getDefaultState());
}

Block states include more information than just the block itself. Right now the code you have detects ALL types of planks.

In order to only get oak planks you need to check the block state's variant as well.

E.g.:

world.getBlockState(blockPos).getProperty(BlockLog.VARIANT) == BlockLog.EnumType.OAK

Note that this is not 100% accurate, I don't have my dev workspace up at the moment, but you should be able to use this to find the enum inside the BlockLog class

  • Thanks 1

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Like I said, you need to go look at vanilla's BlockLogs class and find the right names.

Yes.

You can right click on any name and in the menu that opens up, click "jump to definition." If you do this on BlockLogs it'll open the vanilla class.

I made this code and it works, thanks again!

if (!world.isRemote && world.getBlockState(blockPos).getValue(BlockPlanks.VARIANT) == BlockPlanks.EnumType.OAK) {
	world.setBlockState(blockPos, NTCBlocks.NTC_LIGHTWOOD.getDefaultState());
}

Note that this will crash if there is not actually a plank block at this position.

Nothing bad happened, I saw errors in the console and immediately fixed it by checking the block.

if (!world.isRemote && world.getBlockState(blockPos).getBlock() == Blocks.PLANKS) {
	if (world.getBlockState(blockPos).getValue(BlockPlanks.VARIANT) == BlockPlanks.EnumType.OAK) {
		world.setBlockState(blockPos, NTCBlocks.NTC_LIGHTWOOD.getDefaultState());
	}
}
