MikeZ
Hello, I made a new Block with a TileEntity. Now I want to check, If at a side there's a certain block. If so, it should do something. How can I check that? Thanks, Mike
Choonster
Always include the Minecraft version you're using in the title of your thread. Assuming you're using 1.8+ (which you should be), TileEntity#getPos returns the BlockPos of the TileEntity . BlockPos has methods to offset it in every direction by various amounts. World#getBlockState returns the IBlockState at the specified BlockPos . Quote Please don't PM me to ask for help. MikeZ
Sorry, I forgot to include the Minecraft Version. I'm coding for the MInecraft Version 1.7.10. Does it still work? Thanks, Mike
Choonster
In that case, use the TileEntity#x / y / zCoord fields to get the position and ForgeDirection to get the coordinate offsets for each direction. I'd recommend updating to 1.9.4, though. 1.7.10 is quite outdated and you may not be able to get as much help for it. Quote Please don't PM me to ask for help. MikeZ
I tryed to get the coordinates like that: protected int xPos = this.xCoord; protected int yPos = this.yCoord; protected int zPos = this.zCoord; If I try to print it out in the console, al the values (X,Y,Z) are 0. Do you have any idea why? What am I doing wrong?
pickaxe_engineer
Hi This *cannot* work since the coordinates are primitive types in java, which are always passed by value. So, what you would like to do is in your 'checkStuff' method, use the coordinates to get the block at the offset of the four compass directions of ForgeDirection. In other wors: Get the coordinates in your tileentity (they are inerhited from TileEntity, so they are present), then loop over the appropriate ForgeDirections and get the block over the tileentity's worldObj. Hope this helped you. Sincerely -pick Quote Since English is not my mother tongue, my sentences may are confusing. I'm coding java for a long time now - just MC and forge stop me sometimes. MikeZ
I'm not exactly sure, what you've told me there. Could you give me a little code example?
pickaxe_engineer
Hi Something like this: //in the checking method foreach ForgeDirection do Block toTest = worldObj.getBlock(xPos,yPos,zPos) if toTest meets requirements do //do your stuff endif endforeach This checking method is part of your tileentity and should called whenever the test has to happen. I'm not entirely sure anymore how 1.7.10 code looks, but the idea should be clear. You may also only want ForgeDirections on the horizontal axis...
