JimiIT92 Posted September 4, 2015 Share Posted September 4, 2015 Is there any way to see how a block is damaged? I mean, you hit the block for a period of time and then it breaks, is there a way to see "if the block has been hitten for X time than use this model, if it has been hitten for Z time than use this other model" I've tried using the damageValue but it always return the metadata (wich in my case is 0). So basically how can i check if a player is breaking a block and from how long he's doing it? Quote Don't blame me if i always ask for your help. TheGreyGhost Posted September 4, 2015 Share Posted September 4, 2015 Hi You can hook into one of the block damaging events, and when you render your block (should be a TileEntity) check to see if the block being damaged is that one. JimiIT92 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Share Posted September 4, 2015 Thanks, i'll check it out I found another method but i don't know if is correct. Overriding this function @SideOnly(Side.CLIENT) public boolean addHitEffects(World world, MovingObjectPosition target, net.minecraft.client.particle.EffectRenderer effectRenderer) { return false; } lets me handle what happens when breaking the block. Is it correct doing stuff here? Quote Don't blame me if i always ask for your help. I just want to learn to be better Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
JimiIT92 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Share Posted September 5, 2015 Ok, so i've added the event handler, so i now have this package blaze.core; import net.minecraft.block.Block; import net.minecraftforge.event.entity.player.PlayerEvent; import net.minecraftforge.event.entity.player.PlayerInteractEvent; import net.minecraftforge.event.world.BlockEvent; import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.eventhandler.SubscribeEvent; public class Events { @SubscribeEvent public void breakSpeed(PlayerEvent.BreakSpeed event) { if ( (event.state == null || event.state.getBlock() != BLBlocks.coal_block) && (event.entityPlayer == null || event.entityPlayer.getCurrentEquippedItem() == null || event.entityPlayer.getCurrentEquippedItem().getItem() != BLItems.topaz_hammer)) { return; } else { System.out.println("BREAKING"); Block block = event.state.getBlock(); } } } So now how can i tell the game "change the block model while breaking"? JimiIT92 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Share Posted September 5, 2015 any suggest? I want to make something similar to how the discs works on pixelmon (so i place a block down, i keep hitting it and sometimes it change it's model), i figured out how to change its drop if i'm using a certain tool or a condition is true, but how can i also "make it visual", how can i change it's model the more the breaking progress goes up (so the more i breaking it the more the model will be smaller) Quote Don't blame me if i always ask for your help. Choonster Posted September 6, 2015 Share Posted September 6, 2015 You need to override getMetaFromState , just ignore the DAMAGE property in it. getStateFromMeta will always return the default state if you don't override it, which is what you want in this case. JimiIT92 Posted September 6, 2015 Author Share Posted September 6, 2015 forgot to change that, it was static beacause before was used in the static block. So i need to return this right? state.withProperty(DAMAGE, Integer.valueOf(this.d_progress)); EDIT: changed to this @Override @SideOnly(Side.CLIENT) public IBlockState getActualState(IBlockState state, IBlockAccess worldIn, BlockPos pos) { IBlockState newState = state; RenderGlobal render = Minecraft.getMinecraft().renderGlobal; DestroyBlockProgress progress = null; if(damage != null) { Map mp; try { mp = (Map)damage.get(render); Iterator it = mp.entrySet().iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { Map.Entry pair = (Map.Entry)it.next(); progress = (DestroyBlockProgress) pair.getValue(); if(progress.getPosition().equals(pos)) { newState = state.withProperty(DAMAGE, Integer.valueOf(progress.getPartialBlockDamage())); } } } catch (IllegalArgumentException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IllegalAccessException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } return newState; } still returning the incorrect block model Quote Don't blame me if i always ask for your help. JimiIT92 Posted September 6, 2015 Author Share Posted September 6, 2015 It goes from 0 to 8 while breaking the block, reaching the 8 when is nearly broken. I've printed this progress.getPartialBlockDamage() Quote Don't blame me if i always ask for your help. I just want to learn to be better Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
JimiIT92 Posted September 6, 2015 Author Share Posted September 6, 2015 If i return this newState = state.withProperty(DAMAGE, Integer.valueOf(0)); it's still returning me the model that should be corresponding the the damage 5 or higher, so i think could be this the problem. This is how i register the block block.setUnlocalizedName(name); GameRegistry.registerBlock(block, ItemCoalBlock.class, name); ModelBakery.addVariantName(Item.getItemFromBlock(coal_block), BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block", BL.MODID + ":" + "coal_block"); for(int i = 0; i < 11; i++) renderItem.getItemModelMesher().register(Item.getItemFromBlock(block), i, new ModelResourceLocation(BL.MODID + ":" + name, "inventory")); block is the coal_block instance name is the unlocalized name renderItem is the RenderItem instance and this is the blockstate file { "variants": { "damage=0": { "model": "blaze:coal_block" }, "damage=1": { "model": "blaze:coal_block" }, "damage=2": { "model": "blaze:coal_block" }, "damage=3": { "model": "blaze:coal_block" }, "damage=4": { "model": "blaze:coal_block" }, "damage=5": { "model": "blaze:coal_block_5" }, "damage=6": { "model": "blaze:coal_block_5" }, "damage=7": { "model": "blaze:coal_block_5" }, "damage=8": { "model": "blaze:coal_block_5" }, "damage=9": { "model": "blaze:coal_block_5" }, "damage=10": { "model": "blaze:coal_block_5" } } } And this is the block model file for damage 0-4 { "parent": "block/cube_all", "textures": { "all": "blocks/coal_block" } } and for damage 5-10 { "textures": { "all": "blocks/coal_block", "particle": "blocks/coal_block" }, "elements": [ { "from": [ 0, 0, 0 ], "to": [ 16, 5, 16 ], "faces": { "down": { "texture": "#all", "cullface": "down" }, "up": { "texture": "#all", "cullface": "up" }, "north": { "texture": "#all", "cullface": "north" }, "south": { "texture": "#all", "cullface": "south" }, "west": { "texture": "#all", "cullface": "west" }, "east": { "texture": "#all", "cullface": "east" } } } ] } Quote Don't blame me if i always ask for your help.
