  1. well thankfully in the Minecraft launcher you have a section that says skin (two options for body type just stay with classic/steve) on there you can upload a skin from a couple of sites place to get skins "this is a safe place to get some" or you can create your own. just as a heads up as of right now you should stick to 1.12.2 or lower due to forge support. 1.13 doesn't have forge just as of yet. you will also need to take into account your computer specs and the mods you install as for a newbie it can be a bit much. so start off small or go with a mod pack. you also have mods like more player models on the twitch app above that allow you to do more things with the character
  2. the modding community is still there and doing well just its not quite what it used to be. lots of mods get created or update every month just there are not as many big mods out there like back in 1.7.10.
  3. just an option I don't really use the twitch launcher myself only really used for modpacks. it can also be useful for say a server doesn't use a mod pack just some random mods you could just quickly download them and restart.
  4. so seeing how for the foreseeable future curse will probably be one of the better places to get mods for Minecraft would you guys (the devs) be willing to try implementing a way for us to browse those mods while in-game and download them just requiring us to restart after we exit the browser if new mods are downloaded.
