[1.3.2] Obsidian Ingots 4.0.3 - SMP/Bukkit
« on: August 19, 2012, 05:25:26 pm »
Decided it's time to put this here on the Forge forums.  If I did something wrong, moderators, please tell me, and I'd be glad to move the topic.

Obsidian Ingots 4.0.4

Over 52,000 Downloads!

Introduction
Obsidian Ingots brings 5 new sets of tools and armor, a new types of tools and weapons, more explosives, magic items, weather and time control, powerful machines, a new kind of bow and arrow, lightning rods, and a few other features into Minecraft.  Even better, it's open source.  Read more below.

Source Code
Obsidian Ingots is open source, and therefore free for all to see and learn from.  You may go through my code and copy/paste freely, but DO NOT release any of my source without my permission!

You can see the source code here on GitHub

Please submit pull requests if you have any ideas for my mod.  This is the easiest way for me to add new features! 99% of the time I will put your code into my mod!

Download
Obsidian Ingots is universal, meaning you use the same download for both client and server.  This makes installing easy!

Download the latest version:
Version 4.0.4 [1.3.2]

To install, simply download the latest version of Forge, and drop the 'ObsidianIngots.jar' file into 'mods.'
You can contact me at aidancbrady@aol.com if you have any questions.

Download for Bukkit
Obsidian Ingots now supports Bukkit!  To set up a Bukkit server with Obsidian Ingots, do the following steps:

1. Download Obsidian Ingots: Bukkit Edition [OUTDATED]
2. Download the latest snapshot of MCPC's CraftBukkit
3. Put the MCPC build of CraftBukkit into an empty folder
4. Run the server with at least 1 GB of RAM on command line
5. Put the 'ObsidianIngots.jar' file (Decompress the ZIP file, located inside) into the 'mods' folder in the server directory
6. Play!

Guide/Wiki

Hidden
Dusts

Dusts are pure forms of resources.  In Minecraft, there are already two important dusts: Redstone Dust and Glowstone Dust.  With the Obsidian Ingots mod, there is also Gold Dust, Iron Dust, Platinum Dust, and Obsidian Dust.  Dusts can be combined with a Platinum Ingot to create the dust's corresponding ingot.

Getting Dusts:
Dust can be obtained by putting a resource's non-pure form (Ore, Obsidian Block) into an Enrichment Chamber.  Below is an example of obtaining Obsidian Dust from an Obsidian Block:

Notice how the machine extracts the Obsidian Dust from the Obsidian Block.  This works the same for other resources -- putting Iron Ore, Gold Ore, Redstone Ore, or Platinum Ore into an Enrichment Chamber will return the resource's corresponding dust.

Dusts' other uses:
Dusts can be used in other ways, too.  You can use the Combiner to obtain a resource's ores from it's dust.  Below is an example:

Notice how the machine combines the cobblestone and Redstone Dust to create Redstone Ore.  The same works for other resources, and you can get Obsidian Blocks back by putting Obsidian Dust into a Combiner with Cobblestone.  Another example of dust usage is obtaining dust from ingots.  This is done by putting a resource's ingot into a Crusher.  Below is an example:

Notice how the machine crushes the Platinum Ingot into Platinum Dust.  This is useful if you accidentally create too many ingots!

Magic

The Obsidian Ingots mod, along with bringing you what was previously discussed, has a few special extra features.  These features include but are not limited to the ability to control the world's weather, time, and lightning.  Before you can get started, you need to craft a few basic elements:

Enriched Alloy (Dust location does not matter, as long as you have all 6 kinds):

Theoretical Elementizer (Most powerful, and therefore hardest to obtain machine):

Alright!  So you managed to get the incredible amount of resources it takes to create a Theoretical Elementizer.  Next, you're gonna want to find even more hard to obtain stuff.  The machine runs on Diamonds, and converts Enriched Alloy into one of the random 3 items:

1. Steve's Stopwatch -- A mystical stopwatch that has the power of changing the time of day to 4 settings.
2. Weather Orb -- A strange ball of an unknown material that can change the weather at your desire.
3. Lightning Rod -- A staff of the gods that can strike lightning whenever and wherever you please.

Simply put an Enriched Alloy into the top slot of a Theoretical Elementizer, with a Diamond in the bottom slot.  The machine will create one of the magic items.  Below is an example:

Notice how the machine takes in the Diamond and Enriched Alloy, and returns a Steve's Stopwatch.  Note the machine takes 5 times that of a Furnace's smelting time to create one of the magic items.

Crafting/Smelting Recipes

Enrichment Chamber (Enriches resources to obtain their dust):

Platinum Compressor (Combines dust and Platinum Ingots to obtain the dust's ingot form):

Combiner (Combines Cobblestone and dust to obtain the dust's non-pure form):

Crusher (Crushes ingots to obtain their dust form):

Platinum Ingot (Extremely hard to obtain, yet important resource):

Obsidian TNT (Ridiculously powerful TNT that creates a massive crater):

Obsidian Bow (Extremely durable bow that launches arrows super fast):

Obsidian Arrows (Super powerful arrows that light all creatures on fire):

Paxel (Extremely durable tool that can smash almost anything):

Knife (Super powerful weapon that can stab or be thrown at creatures):

Note:
All tools and armor are crafted in the same way as stone or iron tools, so the rest of the crafting recipes are unnecessary.

Doesn't look like that has to do with my mod.  Take it out of /mods and tell me if you get the same error.

When i  take out your mod, everything works fine. Just a question about which Forge should i download. Universal or some other and which build?

Wait!  That's a bug!
