  1. The log is what I posted above in the Code tags. That file is created when the installer "tries" to run. More I dont have.
  2. Just tried another Forge version install, 1.17.1 , same error. Could it be a problem with the connection to where the server files are downloaded from by the installer ?
  3. Hi @TileEntity How come other versions, older and even newer work with that version I have ? Not that I install Java 17 now, and then this doesnt work with other Game versions. Do I need to uninstall the 21er now, and then install 17er, or does it just overinstall it ? With Oracle Java (which for some reason atm doesnt work on my PC) installing a different version, it usually asked me if I want to get rid of the old one before. Thanks JVM info: Eclipse Adoptium - 17.0.10 - 17.0.10+7 java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true Current Time: 03/02/2024 21:22:11 Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI has an authority component at java.base/java.io.File.<init>(File.java:425) at net.minecraftforge.installer.SimpleInstaller.main(SimpleInstaller.java:78) Hmm ....
  4. Hi, i just tried to install Forge 1.20.1 on my PC (Windows), but the installer does not even start. There is a log file which says the following: JVM info: Eclipse Adoptium - 21.0.2 - 21.0.2+13-LTS java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true Current Time: 03/02/2024 20:25:11 Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI has an authority component at java.base/java.io.File.<init>(File.java:425) at net.minecraftforge.installer.SimpleInstaller.main(SimpleInstaller.java:78) I have already multiple other versions installed, which work all fine. 1.12.2 , 1.16.4 , 1.18.2 , 1.19.4 , 1.20.4 they all work and were installed fine. How come this one wouldnt work ? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Hi guys, i just found this Website while looking for alternatives of Bukkit Server, especially since there seems to be the end of the line now with the legal situation with Notch recently. I just rented my first Multiplayer Server, before I only played via LAN and SinglePlayer. Now my question, what are the benefits or differences or maybe even disadvantages of hosting Minecraft with Minecraft Forge instead of Bukkit, which I have installed on my Server. My hoster doesn't have Minecraft Forge in his available Mod list, but the option to ask to get them to add that is there. I really only need a few plugins like WorldEdit, which is most important for me. So what are the differences for me hosting MC with this Mod here, instead of Bukkit ? Or does it make more sense to stick with the Bukkit version I have installed, which is something like 1.7.9 (couldnt get 1.7.10 versions anymore because of the current Bukkit legal situation) ? I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thank you in advance. Wolfseye
